by L Cruz IIII do
not believe He exists because I know He exists! My hope is that this article
will help you know as well.
However, I believe the best way to
accomplish this is by explaining the reality of God's existence without using
the Bible. If you were and atheist (for argument sake) who didn't
"believe" in God, then how could you possibly believe in God's Bible? And
if you didn't believe in God's Bible, then what could I possibly hope to
accomplish by using the Bible to prove His existence? Nothing!
It would be self negating. Therefore, let me explain God's existence so
that when you DO look at the Bible you will be coming from a position of deeper
understanding.
Many scientists who rest the whole of their professional
understanding on the "Big Bang Theory" cannot tell us with certainty from where
the bang actually came. What was the origin of the "Bang"? Bangs don't just
happen without a reason. What caused the "Bang" to bang?
In light of this
unanswered question, and others, String Theorists believe the Big Bang was the
result of a collision between two or more giant "Cosmic Strings"...but likewise,
not one of them can tell us from where the first string originated. Again, we
come down to the question of origin (or source).
No matter how efficient
scientists may become at their profession, they will always be frozen in
bewilderment at the doorstep of the ultimate question of origin whenever God is
eliminated from their equation.
What was the origin of
the first star?
What was the origin of the first
blade of grass?
What was the origin of the first
animal?
What was the origin of the first
cell?
What was the origin of the first grain of
sand?
What was the origin of the first gust of
wind?
What was the origin of the first human
thought?
Nothing manifests from nothingness. The origin; the source
IS God. The Bible tell us it all began with His Word. We were all
the result of His Divine Intention!
There are many scientists who are
finally coming to understand this fact. (I will save the best for
last.)
Paul Davies (British astrophysicist):
*"There is for me powerful evidence that there is something going on behind it all.... It seems as though somebody has fine-tuned nature's numbers to make the Universe.... The impression of design is overwhelming". 1
John O'Keefe (astronomer at NASA):
*"We are, by astronomical standards, a pampered, cosseted, cherished group of creatures... If the Universe had not been made with the most exacting precision we could never have come into existence. It is my view that these circumstances indicate the universe was created for man to live in." 2
On September 10, 2002, my modern
theological hero Dr. Ravi Zacharias was invited to address the "United Nations
Prayer Breakfast". Here is some of what he said:
*"I remember my professor of quantum physics at Cambridge University, Dr. John Polkinghorne, talking to us one day. He said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen...if you look at the early picoseconds of this universe and analyze just one contingent, the expansion and relation to the contraction, do you know how precise that had to be?' He said, ‘It would be like taking aim at a one-square-inch object at the other end of the universe twenty billion light years away and hitting it bull's eye.' And then he looked at us with typical English anticlimax and said, ‘Gentlemen, there's no free lunch. Somebody has to pay.'" 3
Dr. John
Polkinghorne knows, just as we do, that our existence was paid for by our
Almighty God. Today, Dr. John Polkinghorne, is an Anglican priest.
And finally, here is my absolute favorite quote on the
subject to date. These words are from Dr. Frank Tipler, Professor of
Mathematical Physics at Tulane University:
"When I began my career as a cosmologist some twenty years ago, I was a convinced atheist. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that one day I would be writing a book purporting to show that the central claims of Judeo-Christian theology are in fact true, that these claims are straightforward deductions of the laws of physics as we now understand them." 4
While I am grateful and pleased that many scientists are coming
forward and finally acknowledging God's existence, there is nothing they could
ever tell me that every single cell in my body didn't already know...GOD IS
REAL! It is innate knowledge. We are the direct results of God's
design.
To deny God's existence would be to also deny one's own
existence. In other words, with no God there is no us, and with no us
there are no debates as to whether or not God exists.
Stop for a second
and look around; at yourself; at your computer; out the window; at your family;
even the boring things in your life. Now, contemplate your thoughts; your
memories, your imagination; your emotions; the phenomenon of Love.
Now, take a deep breath and consider this; if it weren't for God's
intent to create everything, nothing that you have just considered would exist
at all...no families, no children, no music, no discovery, nothing! We
cannot help but to be connected to God since He is the Holy Father of all
existence. We are each a sublime note of profundity in His grand celestial
anthem.
I often wonder why people don't pray with their eyes
wide open so they can appreciate the obvious reality of God's handy
work.
So, the real question should NOT be "Does God exist?" but rather,
"What is God's nature?" This has been the central debate of philosophers
and theologians for thousands of years.
My hope with this website is to
clearly demonstrate that, while other religions may offer some profound insights
into the nature of God, Christianity has the absolute most insight. However, the
problem, is that many people misread the Bible therefore (as I mentioned in the
Introduction) they either shun or succumb to Christian tradition...completely
missing the point.
I suspect that most people who shun truthful
discoveries of science, based on fears that they may contradict the Bible's
validity, have been misinterpreting the Bible all along (perhaps I too fall into
that category, somewhat). I believe such reactions are really the
reactions of the ego and not God's truth. God made everything which
includes the physical things we see and scientists discover. To loosely
paraphrase the movie, the Ten Commandments, "One cannot break the truth.
One can only break themselves against the truth."
I suggest we stop
saying, "I believe God exists" and instead take a long look around and say with
absolute certainty, "I know God exists!"
But, what is His
nature? Who is God?
