While
in the throws of our busy lives it can be
easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. In fact, we can completely forget
that each of us is only a single link in the vast chain of
humanity.
If you have read the New Testament,
you will recall that Jesus spent His greatest amount of time with the poor,
the homeless, the lost, the sick and the needy. In fact, Christ
told us that whoever helps the least of such people is also helping Christ
Himself. Therefore, remember this, when you look into the eyes of a person
in need or in pain, Christ is looking right back at you.
Though there are many who are eager, some
do not believe they have what it takes to help. Such beliefs are completely inaccurate as help
needs to come in many different forms from many different perspectives.
For example, in regard to homelessness, short-term solutions
include food, water, shelter and clothing. But
long term solutions involve filling the gaps in knowledge, revitalizing confidence and
medical/psychological care. There is something for everyone.
If you can write, if you can sing, if you can give, if you can
bring, if you can teach, if you can preach, if you can inspire and admire, and
if you can raise awareness...you can help save lives.
I invite you to
scroll down and watch a few YouTube videos that document the lives of
some of those in need. While the stories may be about specific people and
families, the problems are everywhere. (None of them were produced by
